Incorporating state-of-the-art Cognitive Design principles and best practices, we create inclusive and responsive websites and apps that work on all devices for people of all abilities. John Kirkwood

New Media Strategist & Founder

John Kirkwood has been making complex Internet and other technological information widely accessible and understandable since 1996. As the first New Media Strategist for the City of New York he developed and launched the official website for the City, NYC.gov, as well as the first sites for many NYC agencies and later versions of the NYC official website. As the City’s New Media Strategist, John provided project management and other consulting services for the City’s most critical and complex information technology projects.

After recovery from a critical brain aneurysm and stroke, in 2009 John re-launched his business, CityMouse, Inc., as one of the first certified Disability-Owned Business Enterprises (DOBE®) by the US Business Leadership Network (USBLN®). With innovative technology and design, CityMouse ensures that large and small corporations, nonprofits, and government agencies meet their Internet marketing needs and exceed international and federal ADA regulations. As a subject matter expert and innovator in technology, and thought leader in Cognitive Design, he is dedicated to making the Internet universally usable and accessible. John is a presenter at 2016 SXSW Interactive Festival on the subject of Cognitive Design.

Justin Negard

Justin Negard is an accomplished designer for websites, graphics, photography, and social media. He is a two-time winner of the International Design Awards, as well as recipient of awards and acknowledgements from Westchester Magazine’s “Best of Westchester”, The Art Director’s Club, ArtsWestchester, and various other honors, cover features, and additional press.

Additionally,Negard’s work has been published on Bloomberg TV, The Art Directors Club, Westchester Magazine, The Daily Voice, The Journal News, Edible Magazine, Refinery 29, among many others. In 2015, Negard published “BOGOTA”, a comprehensive photo and design book on the Colombian capital, which has received accolades from the Art Director’s Club and other design publications. In 2016, Justin Negard will be publishing “On Design”, a book dedicated to the principles and business aspects of graphic design.

Josh Phipps

Technology Team Lead, Strategist, Innovation Officer

Josh is a senior technology leader with 20 years experience in enterprise technology. His recent responsibilities involve designing, implementing, and applying enterprise technology standards, frameworks, and processes that maximize technology’s impact on businesses. This experience is built on a systems development background in healthcare, insurance industry, financial services, nonprofit, and government.

Josh’s strengths include collaboration with senior management on long- and short-term strategic planning; managing transformative organization-wide technology change; design and deployment of enterprise architecture frameworks for large organizations; IT management; team management.

Terry Nelson

Marketing Consultant

Terry has been consulting with CityMouse as part of the development team since 2014.  With 20 years of experience in advertising and product marketing, he is a specialist in all phases of marketing and production, including strategy, creative development, team and process management, interactive marketing, prototype and creative design, production prototypes, and overseas and domestic shipment and distribution. Terry has worked as the Director of Operations for multiple teams of web developers, experiential producers, graphic designers, copywriters, multimedia producers, programmers, architects, procurement managers, project managers, PR executives and administrative support.
